The responses are equal parts appetizing, nostalgic, and revealing—and a delicious way to get to know the people behind our organization.
Roast Pork with Broccoli Rabe and Sharp Provolone on a fresh baked sesame roll from Tommy DiNic’s at Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market. No more Philly cheesesteaks for me once I discovered this marvel. – Margo Hackel
Grilled Caprese Sandwich with Prosciutto: Layers of ripe tomato slices, soft fresh mozzarella, paper-thin Prosciutto, and fragrant basil on crusty Italian bread… plus – memories of summer days sitting outside at a cute café on vacation. – Teryl Taglieri
It’s a toss-up between Falafel with Grilled Eggplant and a Classic Reuben. The first starts with grill-toasted pita bread, a delightful combination of texture and flavor: Savor the fried chickpea cakes crunching into the smoky eggplant and the tahini’s lemon creaminess balanced by the cool tang of cucumber yogurt sauce. Then there’s the Reuben: Piled-high corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut, topped with Russian dressing, all between two slices of perfectly grilled rye bread. Peanut Butter & Jelly. This started as my go-to sandwich in college because it was incredibly quick and inexpensive, but it remains a favorite of mine today. It’s the ultimate comfort food, portable fuel, and a great combination of carbohydrates and protein. I like it on Ezekial, wheat, potato, and sourdough bread, toasted or not. – JoAnne Stauss

Beef on Weck: If you’re not from Buffalo, you probably never heard of it. Warm sliced roast beef is heaped on a kummelweck roll (a kaiser-like bun coated in coarse salt and caraway seeds) and smeared with horseradish. Unlike its more famous cousin, the Buffalo chicken wing, Beef on Weck has no variants. You can skip the horseradish if you must, but that’s it. You don’t mess with perfection. – Laura Singer

Curried Chicken Salad on Toasted Whole Grain Bread: diced chicken combined with a sweet and spicy curry mayo and topped with arugula. We have a terrific bookstore on the shoreline with a café attached. This is one of their signature sandwiches – wonderful to enjoy while skimming through one or two new books. – Peggy Mick
